
The M2 chip is Apple's second System on a Chip for Mac that integrates the CPU, GPU, RAM, and more all together. The M2 MacBook Pro is being sold alongside the higher-end M2 Pro and M2 Max 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, and it is considered the entry-level model in the MacBook Pro lineup.

Given that there have not yet been any concrete signs of a new 13-inch MacBook Pro or notable rumors around what an upgraded model could feature, now is still a good time to buy the MacBook Pro. It is unlikely that there will be a new model anytime soon. The previous, M1-based MacBook Pro was released in November 2020, but before that, Apple updated the MacBook Pro annually.
